Hendre Lake Park

About Hendre Lake

A favourite site for birdwatching and fishing, Hendre Lake Park benefitted from European Union funding in the 1990s to enhance its 58 hectares (143 acres) in the St Mellons area of Cardiff.

The circular walk around the lake is ideal for a quick stroll.

Visitor information

The park is open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Parking: Small carpark available and on-street parking is available in the surrounding area.

  • Seating areas: located around the lake to rest and admire the views
  • Connections to footpaths: Hendre Lake is part of the western extent of the Wentloog Levels. The Living Levels project aims to restore areas of the levels and increase local understanding of this important ancient landscape that stretches from Chepstow to Cardiff along the Severn Estuary.
