Applying for a plot

You must be a Cardiff resident to apply for a plot at one of our 28 allotment sites and you can register for a maximum of 2 sites.

You must be on the waiting list to be offered a plot.

Allotment plots vary in size and cost. The site representative will let you know about the options once you have been invited to see the site.

• Once you have registered your interest for your two chosen allotment sites, you will be added to the waiting list.
• When a plot becomes available to you, the site representative will invite you to the site to see the plot and what facilities there are on site.
• If you decide to take on a plot you will need to sign a tenancy agreement form and pay a refundable deposit between £10 and £20 for a gate key. We will then send you an invoice for the plot.
• The allotment year starts on 2 February and rent is payable for the full year.  If you take on the plot between 1 December and 1 February the following year a pro rata amount is payable.
• Please note you must cultivate at least one third of your plot within the first three months and the whole of your plot within twelve months.
• If you decide not to take on a plot, or if the site representative is unable to contact you, your details will be removed from the waiting list.

Apply online for sites that are open for applications.

Allotments are very popular but waiting lists vary from site to site. If the number of people on a waiting list is more than half of the available plots at the site, we close the waiting list until the list goes down.

Changing your mind

If you would like to be removed from the waiting list, please email AllotmentWaitingList@cardiff.gov.uk

If you would like to give up your plot, please contact your site representative.
