What is a Champion Tree?
Champion Trees are either the tallest or those with the largest trunk circumference (girth) of their type.
Trees are measured and recorded by the Tree Register of Britain and Ireland (TROBI).
There are over 270,000 notable trees and over 80,000 Champion Trees in the British Isles.
There are many Champion Trees in Roath Park including:
- 29 in the Botanic Gardens
- 4 in the Pleasure Gardens
- 1 in the Wild Gardens
There are many other rare trees too.
